Why you will NEVER find the internet marketing magic bullet…

Posted in Internet Marketing on October 15th, 2010 by admin – 46 Comments Tags: , ,

I’m writing this because I’ve been noticing a very disturbing trend with the big IM launches recently. I’m sure you’ve started to notice it as well.

Blind offers that promise you the world…“the magic bullet” which only costs $37 that will turn you into a millionaire tomorrow because THIS is the secret that the gurus don’t tell you

Here’s the truth from someone who has real experience with making money online (most of which has been done in niches outside of the ‘IM guru’ niche).

Over my 7 years of making money online, there has NEVER been a magic bullet.

That’s right. NOT ONCE. The only magic bullet out there is real work. If you honestly think some magical software is finally going to make you a success, you are in for a very sad and shocking reality.

You know that voice I was talking about in my last post? Well, that voice should be screaming at you when you see these sales message. Think about it. If it were truly as easy as spending $37 to buy that software that will change everything for you, everyone trying to make money online would be a millionaire. It’s that simple.

You have to realize something…

The majority of the people who want to make money online don’t want to do real work. They get sucked into this delusion that it’s easy to become rich online without having to do anything for it…

And marketers know this.

They know that if they craft their sales message to cater to this audience (which is the majority of the IM market), their sales will double, if not triple vs. if they wrote a sales message that was accurate to what the product really does.

Now look. I’m not saying that someone is evil for catering to this market. The market demands, you supply. Really, it’s a smart thing to do.

However…

There is a very fine line between hyping up your product (which is perfectly fine to do) and outright lying to your prospects. I think that a lot of the gurus have crossed this line, which is why you need to educate yourself about this tactic.

But there’s a catch. People pitching the magic bullet are becoming very clever. They don’t outright say in their message ‘THIS IS A MAGIC BULLET’. It is done very subtly.

Let’s take a look at the recent Kajabi launch…

Kajabi…the idea is good and the sales message is great, but it’s a product that I can say without a doubt that very few people need. We’re talking maybe 100 people in the world for whom this product might be worthwhile for…

You know what? The market place is buzzing about this product. You go on the WF, you’ll see dozens of threads about why this is so awesome and people talking about how it’s going to change their situation once and for all. I wouldn’t be surprised if this service already has 20,000+ people signed up for it. 99.9% of whom have no reason to be paying $100, $200/m for something that will never get used.

But they buy it anyway. Here’s why.

Look carefully at the sales message. It’s basically pitched like this: Frank Kern, Deiss, Jeff Walker, & Eban Pegan all use Kajabi for their million dollar launches, so therefor by buying Kajabi, you too can also have launches like this. It’s their ’secret weapon’ that allows them to do it!

But the truth is, Kajabi had nothing to do with it. Their circle of friends with huge lists did it. Their sales message did it. Their brand did it.

Kajabi had nothing to do with it. Kajabi was mearly a tool they used to deliver their content.

Yet the 20,000+ who buy into this service are now having dreams of their million dollar payday all because of this secret weapon they now have access too. Those dreams will soon turn into a nightmare when 6 months from now they realized they just spent over $1000 on something they never used, and never needed in the first place.

This, my friends, is how you lose money in the internet marketing game.

I’ve heard a lot of sob stories in my day from people who have spent insane amounts of money on products and have nothing to show for it. I’m not talking $1,000, $2,000, or even $5,000. Some people have spent $20,000 or even $30,000 on products and have nothing to show for it. Some lose more…their house, their spouse, their kids.

Why? Because they are suckers for this magic bullet mentality. They seek something that does not exist. And for every magic bullet they buy into, the desire to find the REAL magic bullet becomes even more intense. And they continue on the search until they have nothing left.

If this is you…if you have spend thousands of dollars on products and have no results to show from it, you need to f*cking snap out of it. Stop being lazy, stop looking for a lottery ticket, and do something. Stop pointing fingers, stop coming up with excuses, and fix your situation. It all lies in your hands…and by buying into the next magic bullet, you are shifting responsibility from yourself, to something that doesn’t exist.

I leave you with this.

As a business owner, you need to take responsibility for your actions. If you fail, you need to figure out why. What did you do wrong that caused the problem, and what can you do to fix it next time? Even if it is ‘not your fault’ for the failure (IE: magic bullet shopping), IT IS YOUR FAULT.
